NAX Announces 2021/22 U16 Prep Staff

The Northern Alberta Xtreme are excited to announce Leland Mack as the head coach of the U16 Prep team for the 2021/22 season. Mack has spent the last seven years as a head coach in the CSSHL with Burnaby Winter Club (BWC) at both the U16 Prep and U15 Prep levels, including winning a U16 Prep CSSHL League Championship during the 2016/17 season. During this time he has been a Western Hockey League scout for ten years with the Seattle Thunderbirds, and one season with the Prince George Cougars. Before joining the CSSHL Mack spent six years coaching U18 AAA in the Vancouver area. Joining Mack for his first season at NAX is former NHLer David Schlemko. A fourth round pick by the Medicine Hat Tigers in the 2002 WHL Bantam Draft, Schlemko played 198 WHL games and won a WHL Championship with the Tigers in the 2006/07 season. That year he would lead all WHL defensemen in assists with 50. Schlemko would then go on to have a professional career spanning 12 seasons and 415 games at the NHL level, and another 158 in the AHL.
