FORMER NAX FORWARD COMMITS TO NAIT OOKS

Former Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) forward Kye Whillans has committed to the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) Ooks for the 2022/23 season.

Whillans spent three seasons in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) with NAX. The Manning, AB forward joined the program in 2016/17, recording 18 points in 30 U16 Prep games.

He would spend the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons with the NAX U18 Prep team recording 30 points in 39 games, helping NAX capture back-to-back CSSHL U18 Prep League Championships.

In 2019/20 he would join the Drayton Valley Thunder for the 2019/20 Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) season, recording 2 goals and 5 assists in 41 games. He would join the AJHL’s Spruce Grove Saints for the 2020/21 season, finishing with 5 points in 13 games.

Whillans would return to Spruce Grove for the start of the 2021/22 season, playing 11 games for them before heading east to the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) where he would tally 4 goals and 6 assists in 23 games with the Nipawin Hawks.

The Ooks are an Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) program located in Edmonton, AB.
