What We Offer

Skills development and Offensive specialist – Ex-NHLer Rob Brown takes skill repetitiveness/reinforcement and blends it into hockey IQ development. He works on stick handling, distributing and receiving different types of passes, and shooting with different angles and strides. Rob Brown makes players think about split-second decisions, which allows players to make smarter plays during the game.

Skill development and Defensive specialist – Ex-NHLer Jason Strudwick takes game situations such as board battles, playing open ice one on ones, and transitional game-play to create an environment to teach the fundamentals of playing without the puck. Also works with defencemen to develop interplay between partners by working on puck retrieval, puck movement and getting shots through to create offence.

Northern Alberta X-treme Student-Athletes are enrolled at John Maland High School in Devon, Alberta.  We strongly encourage all of our student-athletes to become lifelong learners; therefore, the X-treme program also works with a dedicated Academic Advisor that is specifically assigned to our program to ensure that both the long-term and short-term academic planning for our student-athletes is properly organized. John Maland High School has also been recognized as an official SAT test center.
The Northern Alberta X-treme has incorporated a variety of technical skills experts and coaches to assist with player development in our program.  As such, NAX works alongside Making Stridz owner Brian Shackel who has been recognized as one of the premier power skating instructors in the Edmonton area.  Through the utilization of technology along with Brian’s years of expertise he is able improve upon our student-athlete’s skating technique and abilities by incorporating him into our program’s weekly routine on-ice.
